Kkomp.com – Beyond: The Public Newsletter – 4th December 2009
I disagree with this one statement...I think this is EXACTLY what Microsoft customers have come to expect from them. When you depend on the OS vendor to protect you, very rarely is it a) done correctly and B) done in a timely manner.
And when the day comes and OS X reaches that tipping point in popularity when they are a target...the same thing will occur.
Of late Microsoft have been acting more responsibly and have been doing at least something to promote safe computing by issuing updates and patches, (On most occasions rather late; but better late than never.) to patch vulnerabilities that they left in the operationg system when they released it.
OK they're just doing their duty, but at least they have, until now, been doing it.
Whilst it's never a good idea to put all ones eggs into one basket and rely upon a single entity to sort everything out; it is nevertheless the duty of the operating system's distributors to remedy any faults in their product. - Not just in the latest versions but in all versions.
Until now, Microsoft have seemingly been doing this. It's just this single ocurrence that's hopefully a one-off rather than a sign of things to come.
I wonder if OSX actually will become as popular as Windows eventually?
